I call thee Medieval girl (for now)

Quick update! I had abit of free time and decided to get a little more in-

A rough sketch of her outfit- I'm referencing alot on dresses from the renaissance/celtic dresses with a little inspiration from J.Darnell and Lolita dresses :)

- Created the flower in Zbrush
- I messed abit more with the hair to make it asymetrical
- Added a brooch/clip to her hair
- Bottom part of hair still needs love

Hair Practice

Hello! Long time no see-!
Here's some stuff I've been up to lately.

all together base + hair = 9 1/2 hours

I was practicing hair sculpting again, This time with a little more detail added in. Started out with a zsphere and slowly added details. The back hair still needs some love : ( I'm planning to put a clip at the back to make it hold the hair. I'm also going to focus this character on her clothes/fabric/accesories/hair/posing. I'm not focusing too much on anatomy for her since it wont be seen anyway. The fingers and toes will be fixed too!
(Her textures disappeared after using dynamesh and I hadn't realized till it was too late : ( - luckily I did just the face)

Demo Reel 2014

So I've been busy applying for jobs recently and haven't had much time to work on any personal projects.
However I did make a demoreel for applying-
Tada! " My Demoreel for the year "

I've only managed to pull through little by little with my other projects. Here's a screenshot of the viper I managed to squeeze through - It's also a paint over for the seat and I did have minor adjustments here on the front piece and the side mirrors-

That's all I have for now, I'll update more soon-!

Orellia - Almost there progress!

Hello! I'm back from my vacation and started working on my character again- Here's a few snaps of  progress.
Started out testing out fiber mesh for the first time in zbrush- Look at it- doesn't that look like an awesome hair do?! I'd wear it- no, of course not-
Zbrush Fibermesh Test

After that I made did a quick paintover- I scrapped the tail and worked on trying to get the overall bob look for her hair- The hair colour I changed it to a darker brown to make her face pop out more- The blond made her face drown- I also made little changes to the skin and lips-

Changes made through out the hair modelling process
Here's a close up of a finalised skin! I'm still working on the alpha for the hair ;|

Orellia - Texture Progress

A little progress as to where I'm at- Almost everything is done- Almost because I'm still having trouble with the hair and had separated them into a new texture map- Added lighting and renders through Marmoset 2- It really is convenient and always makes everything look good- the reflectivity, lights and how its rendered real time! Amazing shiz if you ask me and it's affordable for the poor artist like myself- XD My only problem with it now is the shadows- Sometimes it would give me pixelated and jagged lines, Still reading up on how to get rid of em-

The progress above is the char without any specular- After some massive testing with the specular I managed to get it to this :-
Tada! Textures completed so far, Diffuse, AO, Normals, Specular-
A little adjustment:-
Added loads of freckles/ pores to the other parts of the skin. I used a subtle scatter brush around the tummy area and the arms. The face was quite challenging, the lips took me an hour before I got the specular right-and many times she looked haggard because I had put too much detail at the bottom of her eyelids- Added leather and cloth specular to the clothes, mostly using textures online and de-saturating them- This is what I'm sticking to for the moment- until I'm done with the hair- I'll be updatig that soon! Till then-

Orellia Update

A little progress I've done on Orellia, I overhauled the design for her hair, with a hat and her belt- The design felt messy at the beginning. Finally after tweaking many many times I decided to go for this look. The textures are still halfway done. I still have to add the leather textures onto some parts of her accessories as well the clothes. The hair had a pasted on texture I found- It still needs to be tweaked but the shape and colour of it would be final- I'm still not entirely happy with the overall design, but it's definitely looking better than the one before so I'll be sticking to it. I added the wireframe to get some feedback. It's at 10k + tris, I know it could still be reduced but I'll have to finish up the textures first-

Carbot Ultralisk

Something quick I did for the daily spitsculpt group. Its Ultralisk from carbot animation! It was a break from the constant texturing I've been doing lately.

Rihanna 3D printed bust!

My Rihanna bust has been printed! It looks pretty amazing I'll give them that! It looks really clean cut too- They even gave me a few screenshots of the process, It looked extremely cool too with the supports!

This was about 5 hours through printing- It does take a long time to print but in all it's really great to see a 3D model becoming a physical copy- The website they have up is pretty informative about how 3d prints are done too- which is cool since if you own a 3d printer or want to print you don't have to look far.

Orellia Colour Progress!

First colour testing through photoshop and zbrush-
I did a paintover in photoshop and after some feedback, I realized the style of the character just seemed out of place- I did a quick texture map and uploaded it into marmoset and realized the outcome wasn't as pretty as I hoped it would be- So I gave her a new look and with another round of feedback I came to this-

Ta da! I'd like to give her an awesome skateboard! to go along with everything now -
Currently working on adding miniature details (cloth texture/pores) blab-blab-bla- Off to work!

New Character - Orellia

It's been a long time since my last post. I had to put the mech girl on hold and now I've been making an original character for my portfolio- Here's some of the progress in the last few weeks-
I decided on a steampunk look, the first 2 iterations were loosely based on a pirate look- I made the design of the top a little more modern and created a placeholder for the hair to get a more complete look-
Later on added gloves for the hands and added details to the rest of her clothes -
After that I retopologized the main model in topogun and placed the lowpoly into zbrush and copied the details over. Some parts like the shirt and the shoes were done in Xnormals- It slowed me down a little at this point due to the fact it didn't copy normals over so smoothly.

I'm still on the fence with the colours- I'll post a few progress shots in abit- get some feedback and update again : D

Mech Girl WIP 2

Yay! Finally had some time to work on this again- After endless tutorials on hard surfacing in zbrush, I only got up to this point-

First step was to make sure I could understand the shapes and forms these things require, So I put a lil effort in getting the side view and dissected the body armor- Took me about 2 hours for me to actually even understand what was going on- Due to my lack of practice with hard surfacing even in maya these days-
Next step was blocking out the shapes, It took me about half a day for me to even get it to look right-
I had to fix the hips as well as they were protuding a little too much, which caused a bit of damage on the butt as well and had to fix that too- This is what I was able to come up with so far. More progress soon!

Mech Girl WIP

I've been working on a new model : D for my portfolio and practice. This time I'm trying out some hard surfacing! So far I've done the base model with the suit-
The concept artist who drew this was Lee Chang Woo, you can catch his stuff here
http://conceptartworld.com/?p=28734

(I did not draw this concept nor do I own it)
3D base with Suit 01

Quick texturing of head to get the feel of it (Hair and eyelashes are placeholders)
That's pretty much all I have for now-

Kvothe Fan art!

So I finished the two books of "The Kingkiller Chronicle trilogy" again but this time, I actually paid more attention to it- Mostly because it's an audiobook I've been listening to while working- I wish more happened in the second book with Kvothe, the whole book felt very mellow to me. Like a filler in an anime, that had minor hints of the same arc but not really- I won't spoil it here and I'm still excited for the third book! I was so excited after the whole thing I actually drew something today! I give you Kvothe : D It could've been better but I took about 10 mins to churn this out quickly so I could get over this feeling-

Disney's Ariel sculpt

An attempt at sculpting Ariel-! I remember spamming this movie back when I was younger, making my siblings traumatized from the addiction, which is lovely and all but regardless! I still love this movie-! I was messing around with zbrush 4R6 new tools recently and decided picked Ariel as a test sub- I thought her eyes were a tad too big, but it didn't look that bad at second glance so I stuck to it :3 I took about 3 hours including the hair. (edited) I added the tail and fixed the hair a little :D and added some shells- I took about 4 hrs to sculpt and texture it all out. I'll probably leave it the way it is for now-

Were Snake Lady WIP 02

More WIP for Were Snake Lady, I made some changes to the design. Since it's supposed to be a game model with mid level poly count, I decided to make some slight changes to the design, making her more warrior like. So far I've made changes to the back and front transparent plane, The tail is extended all the way to the floor with a cloth attached to it to make the focus go back up to the character and the front cloth has been replaced to break the symmetry. The headgear needs to be fixed a little more though. Yes the hands are still missing :| I'm gonna go there last, I'm still struggling with getting it right. I left out the details on the design for last too to focus on getting the main model done : D  The red on the head gear was something I realized last minute and needed to note it- I don't know if it needs changing yet though- We'll see how it goes :D that's all for now-!

Were Snake Lady Project

I've started on a new project this week : D It's gonna be a mid level poly character-! I'll probably add a simple rig at the end of it too-!  After the preparations for the base mesh, I'll be starting on the clothes and accesories! This is the base model so far- (the hands aren't done yet)- I do need to work on it somemore in terms of sculpting but I'm keeping this on a deadline, So I'll get back to it when I have enough time.

I followed a thread Hazardous had made on a character modelling course. Even though I didn't participate, couldn't help but try : D
If you're curious here :
Thread Link: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=98113

This is the progress I have so far-!

The concept art and ref sheet!
(Concept was made for me thanks to Jeff Mahadi) Check his stuff out : D
http://artavias.deviantart.com/ or a little older but heck! http://jeffmahadi.blogspot.com
Made from Basemesh in previous post-! (hands and feet aren't done yet)
I followed Cezar Brandao's style of texturing in terms of the face and loved the effect albeit mine looking more anime like instead. One of the demo's he did, it's really captivating :-

That's all I have to show for tonight! I'll continue to work on it in the mean time :3

Fox Pixie

Fox Pixie

Aaaaaaand I digressed! Had alot of critiques on the nose. After fixing it though I realized it didn't look like
her anymore but I didn't want to lose the cuteness of it. So I decided to make a pixie instead : D I'm still working on the Rihanna sculpt of course-! I just liked where this was going and decided to complete it-

(Picasa seemed to have removed the colour on the eyes, The original colour is true to on the 3/4 head)

Stylized Rihanna Portrait WIP

An attempt at stylizing/caricature of Rihanna. This is still a work in progress. In the process of adding the full body..and her missing ears- Took me about 4 hours from a flat base mesh...The one that looks like slenderman!? Oh, why yes! Back to work missy-
